We now have a skeleton itinerary for this leg of the trip and have begun to make bookings, spurred on by the fact that it’s peak season out there and accommodation seems to be booking fast.
So far we have:
1 February, arrive San Jose (from Sydney via LAX)
Then it’s San Jose to tthe Cahuita National Park in the south-east on the Caribbean coast
After a few days in Cahuita we move across to the west, Pacific coast to the Corcovado region where we stay for a few days before heading north to Quepos and the Manuel Antonio National Park.
From there it’s up to the Monteverde and Arenal regions for a touch of rain forest and volcanic lands.
After that our plan is to head to the north-west beaches around Tamarindo and Ocotal. The Catalina and Bat islands are said to be a must do for divers so we’ll hang around there for 10 days or so and see what dive packages we can find.
Then on the 6th of March we’ll have to head back to San Jose for our flight home on the 7th. But we don’t want to think about that just yet.
